Philippine Coconut Authority DipologThe Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) is the sole government agency mandated under Presidential Decree No. 1468 or the Revised Coconut Industry Code to develop the coconut industry to its fullest potential in order to attain the government’s vision of a globally competitive and efficient coconut industry in the country.

The PCA, in general, oversees the growth overtime of the coconut and other palm oil industry in all aspects. This body also ensures that coconut farmers are direct participants and beneficiaries of any programs and policies to be implemented by the government in all matters pertaining to the coconut industry.

Fundamentally, the Philippine Coconut Authority shall promote the improvement of a globally competitive coconut and other palm industry to contribute to the country’s major issues such as food security, stable income, and enhanced participation of stakeholders.

In order to achieve this, the PCA promulgates and promotes strategically comprehensive development programs for the coconut industry. It also implements and sustains a nationwide coconut planting and replanting, fertilization and rehabilitation, and other farm productivity programs.

As the PCA’s way to reach out to the communities to hit their goals in enhancing the capacities of palm farmers and farm workers, and to be able to hear their grievances, PCA conducts extension works. The PCA also establishes quality standards for coconut and palm products and by-products as a major step in elevating the industry’s standings in the domestic and foreign markets. They also conduct researches from time to time to continually cope to the fast changing trends in the coconut industry.

In line with the PCA’s pursuit of a sustainable development of a globally competitive coconut and palm industry, rigorous implementations of programs and projects are constantly being held.

Dipolog City, advantageously located in Zamboanga del Norte, the fourth highest coconut producing province in the country, has been the recipient of some of PCA’s programs. These projects are salt fertilization, coconut planting and replanting, coconut organization building and farm intercropping.

Philippine Coconut Authority office in Dipolog City is located at Padre Garcia Street, Dipolog City and is headed by Provincial Coconut Development Officer and PCA OIC Regional Manager Ralph Hamoy.
