Mayor Uy delivers State of the City Address

Mayor Evelyn Uy has successfully delivered her 7th State of the City Address last March 25, 2014 held at Zamboanga del Norte Convention and Sports Center.  Mayor Uy opened her speech with pride about the success and awards that the city has received due to good governance which, according to her, is the weapon to achieve success in Dipolog City.

Earlier last year, Dipolog City hosted the 1st Tunog-Tugan International Bamboo and Gongs Musical Festival. This international event paved way to the recognition of Dipolog City in the international arena and its inclusion in the cultural map of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). Year 2013 is significant in the history of Dipolog City as it celebrates its 100 years of existence since its founding as a municipality. Dipolog City hosted sports events and competitions like Centennial Triathlon, National Sepak Takraw, Off Road, Motocross and the biggest of them is the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Provincial Games.

Two of the most prominent names in the international music industry held their concerts here. David Pomeranz and Don Moen serenaded Dipolognons with their inspirational songs.  Aside from that, the city was able to attract investors to put up establishments here with its peaceful atmosphere and organized community.

The State of the City address was attended by the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Vice Mayor Horacio Velasco, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan led by Vice Governor Senen Angeles, Zamboanga del Norte Governor Roberto Uy, Chairmen with thee councilors of the city’s 21 barangays, chiefs from the different private and public sectors in the city, National Offices, Region 9 DILG Assistant Regional Director Pedro Cuevas, Mayors from the different Municipalities of the province, PNP and AFP officials, NGO’s Civil Society, employees from the Local and Provincial offices and the local Media.
